[lang_ie]Tá an-áthas ar Chomhpháirtíocht Cheoil Dhún na nGall go bhfuarthas cuireadh chun an Phrionsa Shona a chuir i láthair ag Féile Ealaíne Baboró do Leanaí i nGaillimh ar an deireadh seachtaine seo chugainn. Tá an tseinm cheoil ( a bhfuil na ticéid “iomlán díolta”) ar siúl san Amharclann i Halla an Bhaile i gCathair na Gaillimhe ar an Domhnach seo 21 Deireadh Fómhair ag 5.00 i.n.
D’fhógair Seirbhísí Cultúrtha Chomhairle Chontae Dhún na nGall choimisiún i 2011 le hathchóiriú ar an scéal ó Oscar Wilde – An Prionsa Sona – ionas go mbeadh an úsáid is fearr cruthaitheach le ceol, seanchas, léiriú ón taobh seo tíre – ó Dhún na nGall.
D’obair Little John Nee (an scríbhneoir, aisteoir, scéalaí agus ceoltóir clúiteach) i gcomhair leis an chumadóir Vincent Kennedy leis an méid téacs a bhí ann cheana féin agus rinneadh athscríobh do cheolfhoirne anseo i nDún na nGall ar an scéal iontach seo atá chomh hábhartha inniu agus mar a bhí nuair a foilsíodh den chéad uair sna 1880í. Tá an píosa mar thoradh ar a gcuid obair go hiontach le ceol amharclainne scríofa agus léirithe do ghrúpaí faoin Chomhpháirtíocht Oideachais Ceoil Dhún na nGall.
Bhí na bunléirithe stáitse in Amharclann an Ghrianáin, Leitir Ceanainn agus Lárionad na Mainistreach, Béal Átha Seanaidh le linn mí Aibreán 2012. Léirithe ag Little John Nee, an Cheolfhoireann Óige Dhún na nGall agus Cór na nÓg Dhún na nGall faoi stiúradh Raymond Keane ó Amharclann Barabbas agus Vincent Kennedy agus an dearadh soilse le Niall Cranney ó Amharclann an Ghrianáin.
Bhí an seó athdhéanta ansin i mí na Bealtaine 2012 san Ionad Raidió RTÉ i mBaile Átha Cliath agus rinneadh craoladh beo ar RTÉ Raidió Jr. Tá an-áthas ar an Chomhpháirtíochta Cheoil Dhún na nGall fós go bhfuil an seó anois a thabhairt go hIarthar na Tíre agus ar ndóigh go mbeidh an Cheolfhoireann Óige agus an Cór Óige ag seinm os comhair amharclann lán iomlán de lucht éisteachta.
Seo léirmheas a bhí ag Carolyn Farrar don pháipéar nuachtán An Democrat níos luaithe i mbliana. Deir Carolyn – ” Is meascán de chuid focail Little John Nee, chuid ceoil Vincent agus amhránaíocht an cór a thugann an scéal seo beo agus trasna go fíor. Dún do chuid súile go luath agus liginn an scór duit na bratóga sneachta a fheiceáil ag titim ar an Earagail. Léiríonn an ceol pictiúr fuaime d’eitilt an fháinleog, na daoine ar an sráidbhaile agus fiú an sonas agus an phian. Is maith é, a deir Carolyn, go dtig le samhlaíocht an duine a úsáid mar seo go háirithe in am nuair a bhfuil gach rud go coitianta mar spreagadh súl.”[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Donegal Music Education Partnership (DMEP) is delighted to have been invited to perform The Happy Prince at the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children in Galway this weekend. This ‘sold-out’ performance takes place in the Town Hall Theatre in Galway city on Sunday 21 October at 5 pm.
Donegal County Council Cultural Services set a commission in 2011 for a new adaptation of the Oscar Wilde story The Happy Prince in a way that made best use of our creative strengths in Donegal, which include music, storytelling and performance.
Working from the existing text, writer, actor, storyteller and musician Little John Nee and composer Vincent Kennedy were commissioned to write and perform an orchestral / narrated Donegal adaptation of this wonderful story that is as relevant today as it was when first published in the 1880’s. The resulting work is an exquisite and beautiful piece of music theatre especially written to be performed by the Donegal VEC Music Education Partnership’s performing groups.
The original stage performances took place in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny and The Abbey Centre, Ballyshannon during April this year. Performed by Little John Nee, the Donegal Youth Orchestra and Donegal Youth Choir, these performances were directed by Raymond Keane (Barabbas Theatre Company), conducted by Vincent Kennedy with lighting designed by Niall Cranney (An Grianán Theatre). It was later performed and to a much wider audience in May 2012 with a live performance recorded in the RTE Radio Centre in Dublin that was broadcast live on their RTE Junior digital radio station.
Donegal Music Education Partnership is now delighted to now bring this production to audiences in the West of Ireland and thrilled that the Donegal Youth Orchestra and Donegal Youth Choir will be performing to a full theatre.
“It is the combination of Little John’s words, Vincent’s music & orchestra and the singing of the choir that truly bring the story to life. Close your eyes early on and the score allows you to see the snowfall on Errigal that Little John describes. The music paints audio pictures of the flight of the swallow, the people of the village, even of happiness and pain. In an era of near constant visual stimulation, it’s a treat for the audience to have their imagination put to such use.” Carolyn Farrar, Donegal Democrat, April 2012.[/lang_en-uk].
