[lang_ie]Bhí Sealaíocht don Bheatha ar siúl ag an deireadh seachtaine (26 & 27 Bealtaine) anseo i Leitir Ceanainn agus bhí an aimsir go hálainn. Is ócáid thar a bheith rathúil do Chumann Ailse na hÉireann mar go bhfuil go dtí seo thar €286,000 bailithe óna n-iarrachtaí tiomsaithe airgid óna daoine an-fhlaithiúil sa chontae seo, Contae Dhún na nGall. Bhí ar ndóigh Foireann Sealaíocht don Bheatha Choiste Gairmoideachais an Chontae ina measc agus ghlac siad páirt ina n-iomláine thar an deireadh seachtaine. Bhí duine amháin ar a laghad, ach de ghnáth triúr nó ceathrar páirteach sa tsiúlóid an t-am ar fad agus cúpla duine eile ag an seastán ag díol “deochanna” agus “milseáin” don slua custaiméirí a bhí i láthair. Thug seo seans do Finola, Eamonn agus Paddy a gcuid scileanna mar “siopadóirí” a thaispeáint. Rith Martin Gormley thart ar an champas agus ITLC ón 2 go dtí a 4 ar maidin – dhá uair a chloig iomlán gan stad. D’fhan cuid mhór den fhoireann CGDnG níos faide nó an méid luaite agus go raibh míle maith agaibh as sin. Bhí áthas agus gealgháire ar aghaidh gach duine bheith páirteach agus fuarthas cuid mhór amach as an ócáid ina iomláine.
Níl figiúr iomlán deiridh againn go fóill as an méid bainte amach leis na tiomsaithe airgid tríd an CGDnG ach is cinnte agus creidimid go mbeidh muid deas go maith don €10,000 a bhí mar sprioc againn. Ba mhaith le Coiste an tSealaíocht don Bheatha CGDnG an deis seo a ghlacadh le buíochas ó chroí a ghabháil le gach duine a ghlac am amach (beag nó mór) thar an deireadh seachtaine agus le trí mhí anuas – as an dea-thoil, tacaíocht agus tiomantas agus as an ócáid a dhéanamh chomh taitneamhach agus a bhí d’achan duine. Cuirfimid in iúl díobh sna seachtainí amach romhainn ar an fhigiúr iomlán deiridh bainte amach. Tá roinnt pictiúir agus píosaí ó YouTube anseo a dhéanann cuir síos ar an ócáid iontach seo. Beir Bua Daoibh uile ó Fhoireann Sealaíocht don Bheatha CGDnG agus ba chóir gach duine sa Chontae bheith bródúil as an méid bainte amach anseo.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Relay for life took place on the weekend of 26th and 27th of May in Glorious Sunshine. It was a hugely successful event and the Irish Cancer Society have benefitted to the tune of €286,000 so far, from the fundraising efforts of the very generous people of Co. Donegal. The Co. Donegal VEC Relay for Life team were there and played their part in full over the weekend. We had at least one, but usually 3 or 4 people on the track walking at all times and our stall selling ‘coolish’ drinks and sweets saw a steady stream of customers. This gave Finola, Eamonn and Paddy an opportunity to reveal their inner ‘shopkeeper’. Martin Gormley did either his Saturday evening or Sunday morning run in the very small hours, he literally ran around the track and the LYIT from 2 until 4am!! Many of our volunteers stayed on well beyond their alotted time, thank you! Everyone had a smile on their faces and got a real buzz from the event.
We haven’t a final tally on our fundraising yet, but we believe that we will make our target of €10,000. The Co. Donegal VEC Relay for Life Committee want to thank everyone that helped in any way over the weekend and over the past three months for all of their goodwill, committment and support for making this a successful and enjoyable weekend. We will let you know what the final total is in the coming weeks. Here are a selection of pictures and a few clips found on YouTube that shows the true meaning of this unique event. Well done everyone from Co.Donegal VEC Relay for Life and well done everyone in the County for your efforts and support.[/lang_en-uk]
