[/lang_ie][lang_en-uk]This is an event where the complete emphasis is on recycling material to create new fashion items. Also anyone on the day who arrived with 20 batteries had £5 deducted from their entry fee. Buncrana and Glengad Youthreach and several schools here in the North-West (among them Crana College (see YouTube below), Deele College, Abbey VS, Coláiste Ailigh and Errigal College) took part in this amazing fashion event called Junk Kouture and was held in the Europa Hotel in Belfast. The event was sponsored by ERP (European Recycling Platform). Over 70 dresses were entered from schools all over Northern Ireland and Co.Donegal and with a very high standard indeed. Nadine Doherty, Debbie Burns and Shannon McDaid represented Buncrana Youthreach and were assisted by their art teacher Claire Harkin. They really enjoyed their day and their effort where Nadine modelled their dress entry called Twist of Modern Organic. 20 dresses were singled out to go to the final in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin in April. A piece designed by Clodagh Barry, Catherine Donnelly agus Leona Burns in Deele College called ‘Short Circuit’ and made completely from stripped wire and electrical components has been picked to enter the finals in Dublin. Well done everyone for your efforts and creativity.
