[lang_ie]Bhí an chéad ócáid ag Cumann Gailf Coiste Gairmoideachais Dhún na nGall ar siúl ag an deireadh seachtaine i Muirbheach, baile do Chumann Gailf Baile Dhún na nGall. Seo an chéad ócáid fós faoi mhaoirseacht captaen úr an cumann, agus ar ndóigh Imreoir Gailf na Bliana, Paddy Mc Daid. Bhí an aimsir go hiontach le bheith ag imirt gailf agus is deas an rud é ainmneacha nua a fheiceáil ag baint ar an lá.
Bhí an bua ar an lá ag Christopher Hegarty ó Ghairmscoil na Mainistreach leis an scór 37 pointe agus gearr cóngarach ina dhiaidh bhí Martin Gallen le 36 agus Oliver Plunkett le 35 pointe. Bhí na poist eile ar an lá líonta ag Éanna Ó Mainnín le 34 agus Declan Collum agus Michael McGrath le 33.
Mar sin, tá an Cumann ar obair agus ag reáchtáil ar feadh bliain eile agus beidh an chéad ócáid eile ann ar an 21 Aibreán, thíos ag Cumann Gailf An Caisleán Nua in Inis Eoghain. Is Duais an Uachtaráin atá ar siúl ar an lá sin agus is cinnte go mbeidh Uachtarán na Bliana, an tUasal Martin Farren ag glacadh páirt ar an lá sin.
Ba mhaith leis an Chaptaen, Paddy Mc Daid cuir in iúl do na scoileanna agus ionaid uile go bhfuil fáilte roimh imreoirí nua, is cuma cén caighdeán gailf iad, agus fáilte dóibh bheith páirteach sa Chumann ina iomláine. Coinníollacha Ballraíochta iomlán ar fáil ar Suíomh Inlíne CGDnG. [/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]The first outing of the Donegal VEC Golf Society took place at the weekend in Murvagh, home of Donegal Town Golf Club. This was also the first outing under the stewardship of new society captain, and last year’s Golfer of the Year, Paddy McDaid. Conditions on the day were excellent for playing golf and it was refreshing to see some new names emerge and finish in the winner’s circle.
Winner on the day was Christopher Hegarty from Abbey VS with a fine score of 37 pts, closely followed by Martin Gallen of Head Office with 36 pts with Oliver Plunkett with 35 points. The remainder of the positions were filled by Éanna Ó Mainnín on 34 and both Declan Collum and Michael McGrath on 33 respectively.
The society is up and running for another year and the next outing scheduled for Greencastle G.C. in Inishowen on 21st April. This outing will be our President’s Prize and it is hoped that this year’s President Mr Martin Farren will take part on the day.
Captain Paddy Mc Daid would like to remind all schools and centres that newcomers, irrespective of their golfing ability, are most welcome to join this excellent society. Membership conditions are available on VEC Intranet Site.[/lang_en-uk]
