Post-Primary Schools
Donegal ETB provides full-time educational services in 15 post-primary schools in the county. Second level education aims to provide a holistic, quality learning environment which prepares individual students for higher/ further education or immediate entry into the workplace, and equips them with the some of the skills necessary to become active citizens in a democratic society.

Early School Leavers
Donegal ETB manages six Youthreach centres across the county for young people who have left school early. Youthreach aims to provide a holistic, quality learning environment which prepares young people for further or higher education or entry into the world of work and equips them with the some of the skills necessary to become active citizens in a democratic society.

Primary schools under ETBs are known as Community National Schools (CNSs). While there are currently no CNSs in Co Donegal, this may change in the future and this page provides some information about them.

Ethos of Donegal ETB Schools
The ethos of Donegal ETB schools describes how the partners in our school communities live together, work together and relate to each other. Ethos encompasses the culture, policies, practices and relationships that exist within our school communities. The 1998 Education Act describes ethos as the “characteristic spirit” of a school.

Located on our 87 acre rambling estate, on the shore of beautiful Lough Gartan in the heart of Donegal, Gartan OEC provides a broad range of adventure and environmental education courses, designed for all age groups and levels of ability.

Music Education
The Donegal Music Education Partnership (DMEP) aims to provide instrumental/vocal tuition in all genres of music (Classical, Traditional, Rock/Pop and Jazz), at reasonable rates, to children and young adults. In addition the service may provide instrument rental from its instrument bank to some students availing of tuition. All pupils of the DMEP are invited to join a relevant DMEP ensemble or choir to enhance their musical and social skills.
