Donegal ETB has appointed a new Community Education Facilitator (CEF) to its Further Education and Training (FET) Service. Sinéad Campbell will be based in Donegal ETB’s FET centre Ard Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí in Donegal Town on a part-time basis.
Prior to joining Donegal ETB, Sinéad was an Access Officer based at St. Angela’s College, Sligo. She coordinated the NUIG Access Course and worked on other initiatives which encouraged participants to reach their potential. As such Sinéad has an excellent understanding of the needs of the Community Education sector in terms of providing inclusive educational opportunities for all. Speaking about her new appointment, Sinéad said, ‘I really look forward to working in partnership with the providers of Community Education in the county. I particularly love to see how Community Education brings people together and the ripple effects it has on a community.’
Donegal ETB’s Community Education Support Programme aims to support community education providers to organise and deliver low-cost, locally-based educational opportunities for groups of people who do not usually avail of such opportunities. The programme supported almost 5,000 learners in 2017.
Speaking about Sinéad’s appointment, Donegal ETB’s Director of Education Cróna Gallagher said, “Our Community Education Support Programme is just one of our many Further Education and Training (FET) programmes and has an important contribution to make to our FET service delivery. I’m delighted Sinéad will be joining her fellow CEF, Catherine Friel, in coordinating the programme across the county.”
Sinéad took up her appointment on 05 March 2018 and can be contacted at 074 9725520/22.
