National Award for Abbey Vocational School

The school has won an award for, Girls C School of the Year 2015-16 season, as selected by the Post Primary Schools Committee. This national award will be presented at the Annual Awards Ceremony in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght on Sat 11th June.

We have 50 girls from 1st to 6th year playing the sport and this award reflects the effort, commitment and achievements of each of the teams throughout the school year. Each team trained 2-3 times a week with coach Stephen Carty and Mrs Regan.

The senior and U16 girls both won the regional final and competed in both the league and cup competitions to All Ireland stages. The u16 girls went on to win the All Ireland Cup Final. First and second year girls both reached the regional semi finals.

It must also be noted the tremendous work put in to the development of these girls in the club. The U14 Donegal Town basketball club girls had a very successful year also winning the Division 2 All Ireland Title this year.
