Seven Donegal ETB School Projects Qualify for 2025 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition

BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2025 dates.Seven Donegal Education and Training Board school projects have qualified for the 61st BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition. The event takes place in the RDS, Dublin from 8-11 January 2025. The Exhibition is designed to inspire young people to better understand the opportunities that a career in a STEM-related field can offer.

The seven projects come from two schools, the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town and Coláiste Ailigh in Letterkenny. Twenty entries in total have qualified from Co Donegal. The projects that have qualified are:

Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town

  1. Menopause? How much do you know? (Health and Wellbeing; individual entry)
  2. An investigation into skin microbiomes of people who identify as highly-attractive and bitten by mosquitoes and poorly-attractive and not bitten by mosquitoes. (Biological and Ecological; group entry)
  3. CAS – A wearable capsize alert system (Technology; individual entry)
  4. An investigation into the initial Success of the new Deposit-Return Scheme. Why are 25% of people still not using it? (Social and Behavioural Sciences; group entry)

Coláiste Ailigh, Letterkenny (Group Entries)

  1. Algae bloom v’s cobalt plume, éifeacht tiúchan cóbalt ar ráta fáis Mighty Spirulina (Biological and Ecological)
  2. Imscrúdú ar éífeacht bhrú atmaisféarach fola ar bhrú fola ag aoisghrúpaí éagsúla (Biological and Ecological)
  3. Na hÉifeachtaí minicíochta fuaime ar fhás plandaí (Biological and Ecological)
