The Adult Guidance and Information Service with Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training (FET) Service reopens its doors in Letterkenny and Donegal Town to the general public on 1 March.
The service had been operating online for the last two years due to the pandemic and Guidance Counsellors are looking forward to meeting people face to face again.
The Service offers adults impartial and confidential information, advice, guidance and counselling on the educational options that are available both within Donegal ETB and with other education providers.
It aims to support adults to make the right decisions about returning to education and training and to help them make those decisions within the context of their wider life.
Speaking about the reopening, Service Coordinator Deirdre McColgan said, “after two years of delivering our service remotely and via telephone we’re delighted to welcome clients back into our offices in Letterkenny and Donegal Town to meet with our Guidance Counsellors. We will continue to offer remote options to clients who prefer to engage online or via the phone, but we are excited to resume our face-to-face meetings and walk in information service in Letterkenny. Call in and speak to our Information Officer Samantha in Letterkenny to see how we can support you with impartial information, advice and guidance on education and training options within Donegal, the North-West region and further afield.”
Around 1,500 adults and young people avail of the service each year, including Una and Karl; Una had lost her job at the beginning of the pandemic and the Service helped her to return to education, while the Service supported Karl to secure employment by improving his interview skills.
