Donegal ETB is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Martin Gormley to the post of Education Officer.
Martin commenced employment with Donegal ETB (then VEC) in 1987 as a teacher at Mulroy College (formerly Milford Vocational School) where he taught Engineering, Metalwork and Mathematics. During his period in the college he held the posts of Special Duties Teacher and Assistant Principal. In 1999 he was appointed to the role as Adult Education Officer in Donegal ETB and having achieved an excellent reputation as a very competent and strategic leader, has proven to be a key driving force of adult education throughout the county.
As Education Officer, Martin will work closely with the new Acting Chief Executive of Donegal ETB, Anne McHugh, in carrying out the executive functions of the Education and Training Board. At present, the ETB manages 15 post-primary schools, 11 Further Education and Training Centres, an Outdoor Education and two Training Centres, a Music Service as well as a Youth Provision.
Speaking recently, Martin said: “I am very much looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that the post as Education Officer presents and together with the staff, Board and key stakeholders we will be looking to further develop all the education and training services for the community in Donegal”.
