[lang_ie] Chéadaoin seo caite (28ú Bealtaine) rinne Coláiste an Earagail, Leitir Ceanainn stair a chruthú mar gheall ar Chéad Scoil i nDún na nGall leis an chatagóir ‘Cara’ leis an Cheol – Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann a bhaint amach.
Is é an ‘Cara’ catagóir atá measartha nua don Ceol-Acadamh agus sé an dóigh is fearr le scrúduithe a dhéanamh ar ghrúpaí ranga ceoil. I mí Meán Fómhair 2013, ghlac daltaí na hIdirbhliana dúshlán leis an Fhliúit Shasanach a fhoghlaim agus le leibhéal Céim 3 a bheith críochnaithe roimh Bhealtaine. Ghlac na mic léinn páirteach ann go huile agus is rud iontach dúshlánach agus sásúil a bhí ann.
Nuair a tháinig lá an scrúdaithe, tharla sé go raibh beirt as an rang imithe go Lourdes sa Fhrainc agus bhí ar an scoil an dáta a athrú. Bhí an scrúdú oifigiúil ar an 28ú lá ansin agus ní hamháin go raibh roinnt daltaí páirteach ach fós ghlac Phyllis Gallagher (Cúntóir Riachtanais Speisialta) agus an múinteoir ceoil í féin (Margaret McAteer). Bualadh bos dóibh go huile.
Tá Coláiste an Earagail go rialta ag tabhairt seans lena gcuid mic léinn agus foireann bheith páirteach i dtionscadail nua nuálach agus dúshlánach. B’é rannpháirtíocht sa dámhachtain ‘Cara’ sampla eile de seo. Nuair a chloiseann tú faoi ‘Cara’ amach anseo sa todhchaí, cuimhnigh gur ‘chuala tú faoi anseo ag Coláiste an Earagail don chéad uair’.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Wednesday last week (28th May), Errigal College made History by being the 1st School in Donegal to have students examined in the Royal Irish Academy of Music ‘Cara’ award category.
The ‘Cara’ category is a relatively new departure for the RIAM and is a most suitable means of examination for class groups. In September 2013, the Transition year students at Errigal college were set the challenge of ‘learning the recorder’ with the intention of sitting the ‘Cara’ award Céim 3 in May. All students got involved and it was indeed a most worthwhile, challenging and rewarding pursuit. When it came to the day of the exam, two of the students were booked to go to Lourdes so the date had to be rescheduled. The Exam was held on Wednesday 28th May. Along with the students, Phyllis Gallagher (special needs assistant) and the music teacher (Margaret Mc Ateer) also took up the Challenge. Well done to all involved.
Errigal College is regularly involving students and staff alike in new, innovative and challenging projects. Involvement in the ‘Cara’ award is just one more example of this.
When you hear of the ‘Cara’ award in the future, remember ‘you heard it here first’ [/lang_en-uk]
