[lang_ie]Ó bhunaíodh Coláiste Ailigh i Leitir Ceanainn ní dheachaigh bliain thart nár ghlac daltaí na scoile páirt i gcomórtas Eolaí Óg na Bliana agus is minic a bhí Coláiste Ailigh i measc na scoileanna leis an chéatadán rannpháirtíochta is airde sa tír.
Is amhlaidh a bhí arís i mbliana le ceithre thionscnaimh déag ag glacadh páirt ón scoil le réimse leathan topaicí fiosrúcháin ó conas an lampa laibhe is fearr a dhéanamh le Hannah Ní Chanainn, Clíodhna Ní Dhugáin agus Laura Pasóma ón chéad bhliain go húsáidí soilsí D.A.S. i gcás tine chun slí amach a aimsiú ón teach le Diarmaid Ó Doinnléibhe, Aodh Ó Merlehan agus Piarás Ó Gallachóir ón idirbhliain.
I measc na tionscnaimh eile bhí fiosrú ar éifeacht cheannasach súil/lámh trasnaithe ar chumas chaithimh cispheile le Fionn Ó Cléirigh, Oisín Ó Muilleoir agus Niall Ó Hannagáin ón dara bhliain agus, arís ón dara bhliain, staidéar ar éifeacht brú aer ar dinimic liathróid ag preabadh. Chuir gach dalta a ghlac páirt obair mhór isteach ina dtionscnaimh i rith na bliana agus tá moladh ard ag dul do na heolaithe uile go léir a chuaigh síos go Baile Átha Cliath. Ócáid den scoth a bhí ann arís i mbliana agus bhain na daltaí gach taitneamh agus tairbhe amach as a dtréimhse sa Chumann Ríoga Bhaile Átha Cliath agus bhí lúcháir ar phobal na scoile nuair a bhuaigh ceithre ghrúpa duaiseanna aitheantais ar son a dtionscnaimh.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Since the founding of Coláiste Ailigh in Letterkenny the school has each year been very much involved to encourage and to support the participation of their students at the annual Young Scientist’s Exhibition and there was no exception this year with 14 different projects on display on a wide range of topics from for example – the best hand held torch by 1st year students Hannah Ní Chanainn, Clíodhna Ní Dhugáin and Laura Pasóma to the potential use of DAS lighting as a safety feature for evacuation in times of a house fire with Diarmaid Ó Doinnléibhe, Aodh Ó Merlehan and Piarás Ó Gallachóir from Transition Year.
Other projects included the investigation of the effect of the dominant eye or hand of the player in basketball with Fionn Ó Cléirigh, Oisín Ó Muilleoir and Niall Ó Hannagáin from 2nd year and also from 2nd year another project on the study on the effects of different air pressures on the dynamics of the bouncing ball. Great efforts of work by all students who participated in the different initiatives throughout the year in Coláiste Ailigh and to those who eventually travelled to the RDS to show their wares. It was an excellent event again this year and the students all enjoyed and benefitted from their time in the RDS and the school was delighted to come away with four prizes for their individual displays. Well done to all.[/lang_en-uk]
