[lang_ie]Tá Coláiste Pobail Bun an Phobail pháirtigh san Ag Gabháil do na hEalaíona le roinnt bliana anuas. Anuraidh bhí tionscadal acu leis na hamhráin go léir ó cheoltóirí / amhránaithe agus scríbhneoirí na scoile a thaifeadadh go gairmiúil agus a chraoladh ar Raidió Pobail Inis Eoghain. D’obair Seamus Devenney (atá ina Cheoltóir Proifisiúnta) ar feadh seal le ceathrar de na mic léinn – Shannon Slattery, Amy McColgan, Debbie McDaid agus Niamh Cregan. Bhí a gcuid amhráin craolta ar Raidió Pobail Inis Eoghain i mí na Bealtaine seo caite.
Tá an maoiniú ar fáil do scoileanna dara leibhéal a ghlacann páirt i dTionscadail Cruthaitheach trí dhul i ngleic le hEalaíontóir (sa chiall is leithne) le bheith ag obair le múinteoir agus grúpaí de mhic léinn le píosa ealaíne a chruthú.Tig seo a bheith sa dealbhóireacht, mósáicí, taipéisí, múrmhaisiú nó deileadh adhmaid nó ceol. Anuraidh i 2011 ghlac 80 scoil pháirteach le bheith ag obair le healaíontóirí ina gceantar féin agus úsáid a bhaint as an maoiniú seo. Ag an deireadh seachtaine seo caite, Dé Sathairn agus Dé Domhnaigh 13ú agus 14ú Deireadh Fómhair bhí taispeántas ar an chuid is fearr den obair seo ar siúl i nDún Uí Choileáin i mBaile Átha Cliath. Bhí an seoladh taispeántas seo déanta ag an Aire Ealaíon, Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta, Jimmy Deenihan. T.D.
Chuir beirt de na daltaí – Amy McColgan agus Shannon Slattery a gcuid amhráin féin i láthair don lucht éisteachta (an Aire Ealaíon, Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta, Jimmy Deenihan, T.D. ina measc) ag gig i nDún Uí Choileáin ar an Satharn seo caite. Bhí an gig ó na cailíní mar pháirt den seoladh ar an Taispeántas ar Ag Gabháil de na hEalaíona ó 30 de na scoileanna a ghlac páirt anuraidh. Is cinnte go ndeachaigh ceol na cailíní i bhfeidhm ar an Aire Deenihan mar mhol sé iad agus rinne sé tagairt ar an chaighdeán ceoil a bhí acu. Mhol sé fiú gur cheart go mbeadh comórtais nó imeachta a eagrú an bhliain seo nuair a d’fhéadfadh tallann mar seo a chuir i láthair. Deir sé – ” An méid a chuala mé anseo inniu, tá sé ar chaighdeán an – an -ard.” Rinne sé comparáid idir na cailíní agus foireann peile Dhún na nGall atá mar a deir sé – ” mar Ealaíontóirí Cruthaitheach den Pheil Ghaelach agus ag glacadh áit Chiarraí” (Mar as Ciarraí do féin, ar ndóigh). Nach deas go raibh Shannon agus Amy in ann an Aire Ealaíon a spreagadh. Maith sibh.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Moville Community College have engaged with Creative Engagement for a number of years. Last year a project was conceived to all the singer/songwriters in the school to have their songs professionally arranged, recorded and broadcast on Inishowen Community Radio. Professional musican Seamus Devenney worked with 4 singer/songwriters Shannon Slattery, Amy McColgan Debbie McDaid and Niamh Cregan. They had their own songs broadcast on ICR last May.
Background: Creative Engagement is a subcommittee of the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals. It receives funding from the Department of Education and Skills and the Depart of Arts, Heritage and Tourism. This funding is channelled to secondary schools who take part in Creative Projects by engaging an Artist ( in its broadest sense) to work with a teacher and a group of students at second level to create a piece of Art. The result has included sculpture, mosaics, tapestries, murals, wood turnings and music among may others. Last year 80 schools took advantage of the funding to work creatively with Artists in their own locality. Last weekend Sat 13th and Sun 14th October an exhibition of the work took place in Collins Barracks in Dublin. It was launched by the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Dennihan, T.D.
Moville Community College pupils Amy McColgan and Shannon Slattery performed their own songs to Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Dennihan, T.D. in Collins Barracks last Saturday. The event was the launch of Creative Engagement’s Exhibition of its work of last year which saw 30 schools present their exhibits to Minister Dennihan. Shannon and Amy certainly made an impression on the Minister. In his speech afterwards he referred to them and their music in glowing terms. He even suggested that a competition or event should be organised next year where singer songwriters could display their talents. “What I heard here was of a very, very high standard”. He compared the girls to the Donegal football team who are the “Creative Artists of Gaelic Football taking over from Kerry”. Its nice to have Shannon and Amy inspiring our Minister for the Arts. Well done to all concerned.[/lang_en-uk]
