[lang_en-uk]The Minister for Education & Skills, Ruairí Quinn, T.D., on Friday 18th May, officially opened the €5 million extension and refurbishment at Finn Valley College, Stranorlar. The College has currently 264 second-level students and this new building and investment allows for the future growth of the school and to accommodate 325 students. The accommodation consists of general classrooms, specialist rooms, a PE hall and ancillary acommodation with an overall floor area of 3452 m2.
Speaking at the school, the Minister said that he was delighted to accept the invitation to be present to officially open the new building and expressed his thanks and best wishes to all who were part of bringing the project to completion. Mary Anne Kane (Donegal VEC CEO) thanked Minister Quinn for his presence and to his Department for the major investment on view here. She thanked the Design Team and the Contractors, the present Principal Mr.Frank Dooley, the school staff and the local and wider community. She also thanked former CEO, Mr.Sean Ó Longáin, Bonnie Oliver (Estates Manager), former Board and Committee Members and former Principals, the VEC Administration Staff inclusive of Paddy Kelly agus finally on behalf of the VEC, she extended every good wish to the School Staff and the Students and hope they will reap the benefits of their newly enhanced Learning Environment and that the Committee will continue to work with the Board of Management and Staff in providing the required resources to maintain the high standards in the future for the Students and community of Finn Valley.[/lang_en-uk]
