[lang_ie]Bhain mic léinn ón dara bliain an-taitneamh le déanaí ó cheardlann a mhair dhá lá sa scoil agus a bhí dírithe ar Deileadh Adhmaid. Ba é John Malone, Deileadóir Proifisiúnta a bhí ina mbun agus chuir sé trasna na healaíne ársa seo, deileadóireacht, fhad leis an chéad ghlúin eile. Le treoir ó John, d’obair na mic léinn ar thasc praiticiúil ar feadh an lae, sé sin le dearadh agus cuir le críoch bhabhla adhmad dóibh féin le dearadh seo acu féin.
Bhí an tionscadal comhfhiontar seo i gcomhar le CNPPT Ag Gabháil do na hEalaíona agus Coláiste Cranncha, tionscnamh a bhí an bhéim le spreagacht agus cruthaitheacht a chuir chun cinn taobh istigh do thimpeallacht an seomra ranga. Bhí cuspóir ann, am agus deis a thabhairt do na mic léinn dul i dtaithí leis an deileadóireacht agus iad ag obair ar thionscadal phraiticiúil le treoir, eolais agus taithí ón deileadóir proifisiúnta a bhí ina láthair.
“Seo an chéad uair riamh do Choláiste Cranncha bheith páirteach le tionscadal den sórt seo agus tá lúcháir orm go raibh na ceardlanna ar feadh dhá lá go hiontach ar fad. Bhí na mic léinn an tógtha leis an méid bainte amach acu taobh istigh d’am gairid agus leis na scileanna ón deileadóir féin. Bhí sé ar fheabhas ar fad go raibh gach mac léinn ábalta babhla adhmad a thabhairt leo na bhaile ag an deireadh agus bhí seo ina ngné thábhachtach den tionscadal ina iomláine” a deir Thomas Boyle, a bhí mar chomhordaitheoir ar an tionscadal agus atá ina mhúinteoir adhmadóireacht i gColáiste Cranncha.[/lang_ie]
[lang_en-uk]Second year students recently enjoyed a two day woodturning workshop, that was delivered by professional woodturner Mr.John Malone. He demonstrated the ancient art of woodturning and passed on his skills to the next generation. With guidance from John, each student worked on their practical task for the day, which was to design and produce a unique wooden bowl to their very own design.
As a joint project with NAPD Creative Engagement initiative and Crana College, the projects were to encourage and promote creativity within the classroom environment. The aim was to give students the time and opportunity to be introduced to woodturning by means of a practical project with the experience and guidance of a professional woodturner at close hand.
“This is the first time a project of this kind has been undertaken at Crana College, and I am very pleased that the two day workshop was a huge success. The students were amazed by what could be achieved in a short period of time and of the skills of the visiting wood turner. It was great for each student to have their very own bowl to take home and this was an important aspect of the overall project” – said Thomas Boyle who was Project Co-ordinator and is the Woodwork Teacher at Crana College.[/lang_en-uk]
