The Irish Youth Chamber Choir perform in Donegal this weekend.

Donegal Music Education Partnership is delighted to host the Irish Youth Chamber Choir during their Spring tour with a concert in Conwal Parish Church, Letterkenny this Saturday 9 March at 7.30pm. Under the artistic direction of Greg Beardsell and singing some of the most dazzling repertoire from around the world, these young singers offer a new perspective on choral music.  Their programme will feature pieces by Gabrieli, Eric Whitacre and Arvo Pärt, alongside a rare performance of Come Sleep by Brian Boydell.   The emotional impact of the music and of these extraordinary young voices results in capacity audiences and frequent standing ovations, and the concert will be genuinely engaging and relevant to people of all ages.   They will also be joined on the night by our own Donegal Youth Choir for their finale piece.

Artistic Director Greg Beardsell and members of the Irish Youth Chamber Choir will also work with a number of Donegal choirs in the run-up to Saturday evening’s performance.  On Friday they will work with St. Mary’s National School in Creeslough followed by a conducting workshop for choir and choral directors on Friday evening.  Then on Saturday they will work with both the Donegal Junior Choir and Donegal Youth Choir before their performance at Conwal Parish Church.

Tickets for Saturday evening’s concert, priced at €12 / €8, are available from An Grianán Theatre on (074) 9120 777.  Special group rates are also available.

The Irish Youth Choir is a project of the Association of Irish Choirs, which is based at University of Limerick.

Donegal Youth Choir is one of the performing groups run under the auspices of the Donegal VEC Music Education Partnership.
